Hey! Say! JUMP- is a J-pop group under Johnny & Associates, made up of ten members. Hey! Say! JUMP is considered an expansion of the original Hey! Say! 7. The name Hey! Say! refers to the fact that all the members were born in the Heisei period and JUMP is an acronym for Johnny's Ultra Music Power.
As Hey! Say! 7 (Temporary Group)

In a KAT-TUN spring concert on April 3,2007, 5 members of Johnny's Jr's were named to be part of a new group called Hey! Say! 7. These members were Yuya Takaki, Daiki Arioka, Ryosuke Yamada, Yuto Nakajima, and Yuri Chinen. Initially, the temporary status of the group was unclear, worrying a lot of fans of Johnny Jr's groups J.J. Express as it could mean that the group was splitting up and that Yuya Takaki and Daiki Arioka would permanently be in this group instead.
On June 16, 2007, it was announced that Hey! Say! 7 would release a single, Hey! Say!, which was then used as the opening song for the popular anime Love Com (Lovely Complex). The single also contains the ending song used for the same anime, titled BON BON. This was the first time a Johnny's Jrs group had released a single since Ya-Ya-yah in 2002, and there was uncertainty as to whether the debut was permanent, or just a CD release.
On 1 August 2007, the single Hey! Say! was released. The following week, on 8 August 2007, Oricon Style confirmed that Hey! Say! sold 120,520 copies in its first week and this made it top the Oricon Weekly Charts. At the same time, Hey! Say! 7 broke an all-time record by being the youngest male group to ever reach the number 1 spot in the Oricon chart, with their average age being just 14.8 years.
In the month of August, the single Hey! Say! topped the Oricon Monthly Charts, outselling even their Johnny's Entertainment seniors, Tackey & Tsubasa and TOKIO. Since then, the Hey! Say! single had been certified gold by the RIAJ.
Transition to Hey! Say! JUMP
On 24 September 2007, in a live television event from the Johnny's Jr's concert in Yokohama Arena, it was announced that the group would debut under a new name. Hey! Say! JUMP consists of all 5 members of Hey! Say! 7, now split into two subgroups and are joined by 5 other Johnny's Jr's. It has also been announced that they will debut their single on 14 November 2007, titled Ultra Music Power, and the song will also be used as Japan's Volleyball World Cup Relay 2007 Theme Song.
In July 2008 it was announced that the groups third new single Your Seed would be used as the image song for Kung-Fu Panda's Japanese release.
JUMP released their 4th single Mayonaka no Shadow Boy in October 2008. Mayonaka no Shadow Boy served as the theme song for the Fall drama Scrap Teacher, which 4 members of JUMP (Ryosuke Yamada, Yuto Nakajima, Daiki Arioka and Yuri Chinen)starred in.
During the concerts in Yokohama Arena that started on 2nd January 2010, JUMP announced that after 1 1/2 years they will release their 5th single entitled "Hitomi no Screen." The song is the theme song for the upcoming drama Hidarime Tantei EYE which stars JUMP's member Ryosuke Yamada.

Stalking & Robbery Incident
On June 16, 2009, Morimoto was robbed by a 17-year old fan who had followed him on multiple occasions for a period of six months, leading Morimoto's parents to consult police the past December. Morimoto was ambushed by the fan on the way home from work at the train station, and agreed to talk with him in a nearby restaurant with the intention of asking the fan to stop his behaviour. After being threatened by the suspect that he had a knife, Morimoto tried to contact his parents, leading to his phone being robbed and the suspect fleeing. The suspect was found and arrested at three the next morning by Kanagawa police at the train station after he called Morimoto's back-up phone to arrange another meeting and the call was traced. The issue received widespread press coverage as it is one of the more serious incidents of stalkings of idols known in Japan's recent history, in that it involved a weapon. The suspect is believed to have slight mental issues that are in need of addressing. The stalker also appears to have been quite well known among Hey! Say! JUMP fans as the stalking had been a well known fact. Morimoto's agency has asked fans to please honour the official and unofficial rules set down by the fan clubs as they support their idols.

Yuri Chinen: (Chinen Yūri, born November 30, 1993), is a Japanese actor, talent and singer as well as member of Hey! Say! JUMP. He is under the management of Johnny & Associates. He was born in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture and lives in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. Also known as "the little giant".
Life
His father was the Olympics gymnastics bronze medalist, Takashi Chinen.[citation needed]
He was taught jazz dance by his mother from an early age.
His name comes from Yuri Osawa, an announcer, whose name his mother liked, but is written with different characters; the yu is a character often used in girl’s names (yū) and the ri is taken from a name his mother thought common among Chinese gold medalist gymnasts (lǐ) (from an interview piece in Sports Hochi sold December 5, 2005).
He is good at acrobatics and jazz dance. His forte in acrobatics is the turn, which he often performs during songs.

In 2007, he moved from his hometown of Hamamatsu to the capital, Tokyo, and despite previously having never been involved in it, it was through back-up dancing that his career truly began.[citation needed]

His older sister was an Arashi(Johnny's Group) fan and she sent an application to the Johnny's Agency without telling him. After the audition he successfully joined the agency as a trainee, but the dance lessons that took place every week were so hard, he told his mom that he wanted to quit. But after his mom said "I'll buy you a soccer badge" he decided to stay.
From the time he joined the agency (2001) to the year 2004, he had the most high pitched voice in the history of Johnny's. It was nicknamed "An Angel's Voice". Using that voice and his talent for singing, soon after he joined the agency he was told to sing solos and medleys on TV.
For the musical, PLAZONE 2002, he was given his first solo song, Boku wa tada…. Trainees normally backdance for a year or two before being given solos.
In The Shounen Club, the most popular TV show for Johnny's Jr, over 100 Johnny's Jr.s performed but his performances stood out the most. Quite a few of his seniors, NEWS, KAT-TUN, and other Johnny's Jr. groups became backdancers at some point for Yabu.
In NEWS's first single, NEWS Nippon, he sang the high pitched notes and his voice is recorded in the CD.
In 2006, he wrote the lyrics to a song for the first time which was Asu e. In that lyrics, he put one or two Chinese letter from the Ya-Ya-yah members' names. (Kota's Ko means large, Hikaru's Hikaru means light, Taiyo's Taiyo means sun, Shoon's Sho means fly)
He has an older brother and an older sister.
He looks up to Domoto Koichi of the group KinKi Kids as a mentor.
He was named Kota because his parents wanted him to have a large(Ko) heart.
He is close to Akanishi Jin of KAT-TUN who was rumored to have even called Yabu's mother and ask her if he could adopt him as his younger brother. Akanishi has once even said to Yabu, "Stay beside me until you're 14 years old".
He is also very close to Hikaru Yaotome.
He studied in Horikoshi High School, with the other three Ya-Ya-yah members. Goro Inagaki, and Tsuyoshi Kusanagi from SMAP , Tsuyoshi Domoto from KinKi Kids, Yamashita Tomohisa and Tegoshi Yuya from NEWS, Matsuoka Masahiro from Tokio, Jun Matsumoto from Arashi, Ikuta Toma from Johnny's Jr, Daiki Arioka, Yuuri Chinen,Yuto Nakajima, Ryosuke Yamada and Hikaru Yaotome are some examples of Johnny's idols that have studied/are studying in Horikoshi High School.
